Why do I need professional cleaning for my hard surfaces when I clean them myself?
-
Most flooring manufacturers and cleaning professionals have noticed a continued change in flooring preference from carpeted areas to hard floor installations. Home owners want to have a cleaner, easier to maintain flooring surface, coupled with improvements in overall appearance seems to make hardwood, engineered, laminate, tile and vinyl of many sorts much more appealing.
I applaud each person who takes time out of their day to vacuum, dust, mop and scrub these hard floor surfaces. Whether you have wood with beveled edges, tile with sanded grout joints or laminate and vinyl plank floors, it is extremely important to keep them clean by following a cleaning regiment of some sort. Just don’t let the fancy bottles and funny commercials mislead you when it comes to cleaning of your valued floors. Many products on the market promise an instant clean and majestic finish. Although the results may seemly be just what they promised, there may be deeper concerns looming than most customers are aware of.
Our technicians are trained to search for and to create the best possible solution for many of the deeper hidden concerns that may develop after repeatedly using a host of store-bought cleaners. Some of the concerns in which we encounter daily include but are not limited to; hazing on surface, variation in sheen levels, rapid re-soiling, film formers, residues, slippery surfaces, yellowing, degradation of grout lines, incorrect finish applications, soil trapped under multiple layers of waxes and acrylics, on and on we go! Truly the blame is not to be placed on every customer, when unknowingly they have purchased a problem in a bottle.
To answer the question, why do I need a professional cleaning of my hard floor surfaces when I clean them myself, is this: professional hard surface cleaning employs professionals who have been trained and prepared for possible difficulties which may arise due to all the coatings that are meant to make cleaning a breeze. Our process loosens, agitates and extracts unwanted soils and coating, leaving your floor in a better condition. In addition, we can inform each of our valued customers how to maintain their floors between professional cleaning, in this way your floor looks better longer, while performing to its greatest potential. -
The tag on my furniture recommends a dry cleaning method. Can Stanley Steemer clean it?
- Yes, we can your furniture. We’ll test the fabric to determine which cleaning method will be the safest and most effective. That tag, or “Manufacturer Liability Code,” is required to recommend “a” cleaning method even though it may not be the most effective method for removing soil. Learn more here.

My carpet was cleaned, and now it has bubbles or ripples in it. What caused this?
- As the carpet dries, these bubbles or ripples should start to lay flat again. Once it is dry they should be virtually unnoticeable. This is usually a sign that the carpet was in need of re-stretching prior to the carpet cleaning. If these ripples do not go away after it is completely dry, please contact Stanley Steemer at 1-800-STEEMER (1-800-783-3637) as soon as possible.
