How to Clean Pet Urine from Carpet

How to clean pet urine using common household ingredients.

To clean a pet stain from carpet here’s what you need:
  • Clean white towels
  • An empty spray bottle
  • Cold water
  • Liquid dishwashing detergent
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • White vinegar
  1. Start by filling an empty spray bottle with hydrogen peroxide. Spray the stain.
  2. Using a clean towel, absorb as much of the liquid as you can before it penetrates the carpet pad or subflooring.
  3. Then, mix a solution using 2 cups of water and 1 teaspoon of liquid dish soap in an empty spray bottle.
  4. Spray the area with the solution. Then, allow it to sit for 1-2 minutes. Blot with a white towel. 
  5. Next, you’ll want to flush the area with clean cold water and blot it until dry.
  6. Finally, flush the area once more, but this time with white vinegar.
  7. Blot up as much of the vinegar as you can, let the area dry completely before walking on it.

  • White towel(s)
  • Water

 

  1. Use Stanley Steemer Spot remover first, shake well and turn spray nozzle to open.
  2. Spray on spot until wet.
  3. Let sit 2-4 minutes, then blot up with a clean, white towel.
  4. Repeat until stain lifted.
  5. Rinse with clean water and dry.
  6. Next, use Stanley Steemer Odor Out Plus. Make sure the spot you're treating is dry. 
  7. Shake Odor Out Plus then thoroughly wet the area. 
  8. Keep moist for 24 hours by covering with a damp cloth.
  9. Repeat as necessary.
