Questions
Is the sand and refinish process messy?
No. All of our equipment is hooked up to our powerful dust containment system, which virtually eliminates all dust from the process.
Which is better oil- or water-based polyurethane?
Water:
  • is more durable.
  • is non-yellowing over time.
  • has a much faster cure rate.
  • is much less odorous that oil — it's very low in VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds).
Why should I have my hardwood refinished?
All finishes applied to the floor are "wear-dated" products.  As the finish wears down over time, hardwood is exposed to the elements.  Having hardwood floors refinished restores the protection needed to prolong the life of the floor.
What type of hardwood floors do you refinish?
  • 3/4" solid hardwood
  • 5/8" solid hardwood
  • Engineered floors
How long does it take to dry? When can we walk on the floor?
The floor will be:
  • dry in approximately 2-3 hours.
  • 90% cured in 3 days (furniture may go back down).
  • 100% cured in 1 week (rugs may be placed back down).

How often should I have my hardwood floor refinished?
The industry standard for clean and refinish frequency:
  • Oil-based polyurethane, every 1 - 2 years.
  • Water-based polyurethane, every 3 - 5 years.
How much does it cost?
We price hardwood refinishing by the square foot.  Prices may vary based on the layout and shape of the room.  Our technicians will complete an in-home estimate and present you with a total price prior to service.
How long will it take for you to refinish my hardwood floor?
Many factors must be considered when determining how long the refinishing will take:
  • The total square footage of the area.
  • The layout of the hardwood.  Direction the floor was installed.
  • Pre-existing conditions of the floor.  Level, repairs, etc.
  • On average, a 500 square foot area will take 1-1/2 — 2 days.
What is a clean and refinish?
A clean and refinish refers to a deep cleaning and/or light buffing of the original top layer of finish.  Once the floor has been buffed, vacuumed, and tacked properly then we apply a new layer of polyurethane.  This is more of a preventative maintenance service and should really be done on floors that are aesthetically in good shape.
